Summary of the December 29th 2020, simulation
On December 29th we held another Israeli Palestinian peace simulation on Zoom. We asked people to play parliament members, Israeli Prime Minister, Palestinian president and Hamas leaders. We gave them veto power over legislation which the Parliament members passed.
The parliament passed legislation to have the IPC distribute and administer COVID-19 vaccination in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza. The Israeli and PA leaders agreed to proportionately reimburse the IPC for their expenses in purchasing and administering the vaccine. Hamas leader however vetoed the legislation arguing against proportionate reimbursement insisting that Israel pays the entire bill. The back and forth haggling between the Israeli and Hamas leaders regarding payment did not succeed (Hamas leader agreed to pay 25% of his share but the Israeli PM insisted for him to pay 75%) and the legislation almost failed. However, the American President, agreed to contribute funds enabling the people of Gaza to be given the vaccine promptly and free of charge.
