Below is a link to the IPC simulation with Cornel West of October 3, 2021.
Professor Cornel West is a prominent and provocative democratic intellectual. He is Professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy. He opposes the Israeli occupation and the injustice to the Palestinian people. He supports peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He was the guest speaker at the IPC simulation of October 3, 2021.
In each simulation participants assume the role of Israeli Prime Minister, Hamas leader and Palestinian Authority President. The rest of the audience act as either Palestinian or Israeli IPC parliament members.
The simulations require participants to assume that nationwide elections were held for the entire area of Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem. They are further asked to assume that 5 million people voted, 300 Parliament members, President and Vice President were elected.
The Parliament ratified a constitution and passed legislation to require the teaching of tolerance and understanding in both the Israeli and Palestinian educational system. It also agreed on creating a Joint Economic Zone between Gaza and Israel. These two legislations were also accepted by the leaders of Israel and Palestine. The Parliament failed to pass a declaration demanding the immediate reduction of weapons by the Superpowers to the region.
Professor West expressed “tremendous support” for the IPC process and for having the capacity to unleash forces of good, while remaining realistic about the obstacles.
